Academy’s April 2nd Medicaid Unwinding Webinar Discusses Effects of Program Changes

The Academy hosted a webinar on April 2, “Continuous Medicaid Unwinding: What’s Next for the Health Care Markets in 2024?” The speakers focused on where the U.S. stands a year into Medicaid’s unwinding of continuous coverage requirements, following the Covid-19 pandemic that halted disenrollments from the public program. Also discussed was the projected effects on health coverage for the nation’s lower-income population.

The presenters, including a member of Academy’s Medicaid Committee and the deputy director of Kaiser Family Foundation’s program on Medicaid and the uninsured, highlighted the unwinding’s impact on state Medicaid programs and enrollees, as well as the current and expected Medicaid re-enrollment churn, shifts across health coverage markets, and potential increases in uninsured rates.
